What Exactly is This Fellowship About? The ACSPR Fellowship offers a truly immersive and mentored experience for early- to mid-career African researchers, dedicated practitioners, and policy enthusiasts. It’s more than just learning; it’s about doing. Fellows will actively contribute to ongoing ACSPR programs, developing practical research or innovation outputs that directly align with the Centre's core priorities.
But here's where it gets really exciting: You won't be alone! All fellows will participate in essential core seminars covering crucial topics such as research ethics and safeguarding, research within African contexts, evidence-based programming, data literacy, and the art of knowledge translation. Plus, specialized track-specific sessions will offer in-depth learning tailored to your chosen path.
Which Path Will You Choose? Applicants need to select one primary fellowship track, with an optional second choice:
- Research & Policy Track: Dive into applied research, engage directly with policymakers, and master the art of translating evidence. Your potential outputs could include research tools, policy briefs, and stakeholder engagement materials.
- Data & AI Track: Become proficient in data analysis, visualization, and the responsible use of AI for development. Think cleaned datasets, analysis memos, and innovative prototypes.
- Communications & Knowledge Translation Track: Hone your skills in public-facing writing, compelling storytelling, and packaging evidence for wider impact. Expect to create blogs, infographics, and dissemination strategies.
- Operations & Partnerships Track: Focus on the crucial aspects of program coordination and building strong stakeholder relationships. You might develop stakeholder maps, coordination trackers, or proposal components.
Who Should Apply? To be considered, you must:
- Be a citizen of an African country and currently reside on the continent.
- Show a clear passion for social research, public policy, health, education, climate, humanitarian response, or digital governance.
- Be an early-career professional, a final-year undergraduate, a postgraduate student, or a recent graduate (these are preferred).
- Submit a compelling 500-word concept note that aligns with one of ACSPR's focus areas.
- Possess strong English proficiency.
- Have access to a reliable computer and internet connection.
- Be able to commit 8–12 hours per week consistently.
